| Abstract;Tantalum which is excellent in corrosion resistance, and has large dielectric constant and high melting point has become frequently employed for electronic parts and components. The following are described: Present state of resources, production situation, and problem and future of the tantalum industry. The ore deposit exists as tantalyte, or cologne byte, in each continent. Resources in the world centering round Australia are estimated to reach 24,000 tons on the basis of metal base. Of them, 60% are for electronic industry, including corrosion-resistant materials, optical lenses, tools, etc.Stable supply, competitiveness and environmental countermeasures are future problems to be solved because each country is behind in exploitation and evelopment of resources. Improvements for superpurification, atomization and thinner film will be required from the viewpoint of application. |
