Abstract;A survey was conducted to compare the differences in demographic characteristics of the mothers between neuroblastoma screening participation status and to explore reasons for non-participation. Subjects were mothers whose infants were born between March 1997 and February 1998. The questionnaire was mailed to all the non-participants(n=1401) and approximately one-third of the participants(n=2886) selected by systematic sampling. Compared with participants, non-participants tended to be younger than 25 years and to have more children than one. Non-participants were less likely to think that the screening was necessary than participants. Only a small percentage of non-participants reported that taking urine specimen was problematic.
