| Abstract;Green mussels, Perna viridis, attaching to cultured Japanese oysters, Crassostrea gigas, have been observed forming a mass covering the cultivated oysters of Hyogo Prefecture in recent years. Generally aerial exposure is used to rid culturing oysters of marine sessile organisms. The aerial tolerances of green mussels and of the cultured oysters were investigated in the open in the autumn of 1999. To remove the green mussels(less than 15mm) attached to the cultured oysters, exposure for 24hr to the air at maximum temperatures exceeding 20.DEG.C. was effective. (author abst.) |
