| Abstract;High carbon chromium bearing steels, which are the most popular bearing material in these days, have simple compositions such as 1% carbon and 1.5% chromium. About a century has passed since they were born in Europe but the basic composition has hardly changed. Over 60 years ago, NACHI started manufacturing the bearing steel and bearings, a consistent manufacturing from material to products, in 1939. The improvement of the bearing steel has been remarkable. At the beginning of a new century, We report the history of bearing steel based on the relation between our company experience and the bearing steel. (author abst.) |
