| Abstract; The titled unit is a part which replaces a center brake in a large-sized AOH (Air Over Hydraulic) braking system, and uses air pressure. The developed chamber is made on the basis of a wedge type chamber used for a full air brake system vehicle, and is of a structure for exclusive use as a parking brake. An increased output is obtained, as the product employs a center hole diaphragm and did away with the return spring. The maximum operating pressure is 980 kPa, the output is about 5.7 kN with the stroke at 30 mm, and about 4.4 kN was obtained with the stroke at 50 mm. The development was carried out jointly with MGM Brakes Co. of the U.S.A., because time was limited. This paper explains that importance was attached to confirmation of quality because of this, and the process capability was confirmed in respect of 12 items of critical parts. |
