| Abstract;Installation of escalators accelerated since the enforcement of the barrier-free traffic act in November 2000, and henceforth upon installation of escalators, at least one is required to be of a type which accomodates a wheelchair. The titled equipment is an auxiliary bogey which allows a nursing person to load with ease by manual operation a wheelchair on an escalator and move ahead as it is on an ordinary escalator. It is not necessary to stop an escalator, when this equipment is used, and it is not necessity either for a wheelchair user to make a prior application for the use of an escalator. The equipment has a level keeping linkage mechanism, and, with the handle rocking mechanism, the nursing person can keep the grip on the handle upon going up or down. The brakes are controlled by holding the lever, and the guide-latch mechanism operates in linkage to secure the equipment on the escalator. Switching between rubber tires and casters takes place for riding comfort and safety upon boarding and alighting. This paper presents that the results of field test proved that there is no problem. |
