| Abstract;Maintenance-free operation and service improvement (low noise and less vibration) are required for motor-driven air compressors for railcars, and shift has taken place in needs from conventional reciprocal type compressors to rotary compressors. The titled unit is a screw type electric motor driven air compressor unit developed for the series E351 limited express railcars of East Japan Railway Co. Noise level of 69.5 dB(A) was obtained at the 1.5 m position. A sufficient vibration proof quality was obtained with a thin circular vibration proof padding, because the unit is of a rotary type. A contrivance was made for the oil recovery and separation mechanism of the unit to carry out the control of temperature through cooling of oil, and so continuous operation is possible. Downsizing and weight reduction were successfully attained through such measures as employment of aluminum for the components, integral construction of parts, and built-in aftercooler. This paper describes that improvement was made in such respects as sealing performance, lubrication property, and heat absorption effect, through supply of lubricating oil together with suction air to the clearance between the casing and the rotor. |
