| Abstract; For reduction of the burden of maintenance, AC motors were employed, and inverter type starters were used, for compressors in railcars. Regarding the titled unit, such measures as in the following were attempted for reliability improvement and downsizing: 1) Reduction of the number of circuits by sharing of hardware, 2) Improvement in reliability of the main circuit, 3) Employment of 32 bit microcomputers and downsizing of printed circuit board for control. This paper describes that such results as in the following were realized: 1) Display of operating condition of the starting unit, 2) Automatic inspection of pneumatic source related items, 3) Meeting the requirement of low-floor type railcars by limiting the unit height to 50 cm or less, 4) Suppression of starting rush-in current and suppression of vibration with the soft start function, 5) Maintainability improvement and high reliability by eliminating contact points, 6) Governor control using a built-in semiconductor pressure sensor, 7) Analysis of causes of troubles by autognosis, and 8) Confirmation of intra-equipment information by display. |
