Abstract;The enthalpy of formation and decomposition temperature was measured for the substituted lithium manganese spinel oxide LiMyMn2-yO4. The enthalpy of formation for LiMn2O4 at 876K was estimated to be .DELTA.H.DEG.f,876K=-1404.21.+-.6.4kJ/mol. The partial substitution of Co,Ni for Mn decreased the absolute value of .DELTA.H.DEG.f,876K, while Cr, Mg for Mn increased absolute .DELTA.H.DEG.f,876K value. The degree of tolerance against reduction at high temperature was in the order of the absolute value of .DELTA.H.DEG.f,876K for LiMyMn2-yO4. The relation between enthalpy of formation and nonstoichiometry for LiMyMn2-yO4 was discussed in terms of delocalization of electron. (author abst.)
