| Abstract;We have synthesized porphyrin-polypeptides conjugates by connecting porphyrin to the Cys-side chains of Ac-Cys-Lys-Val-(-Ser-Val-)n-Lys-Val-NH2. These conjugates were of .BETA.-structure though the peptides were random. The conjugates showed split Cotton effect in the porphyrin region suggesting that the porphyrin's assembling induced the .BETA.-structure. The Cotton effect of the conjugates reflected the twist of the .BETA.-sheet peptide main chains. (author abst.) |
