Abstract; We have already succeeded in the synthesis of photo-responsive DNA carrying an azobenzene in the side chain. By using this DNA, duplex formation and dissociation was successfully photo-regulated by the trans-cis isomerization of the incorporated azobenzene. In the present paper, position of azobenzene residue in the sequence was optimized for still more effective photo-regulation. (author abst.)
