Abstract;CD measurement study showed that d(G4T4G4) and d(G4C4G4) forms antiparallel and parallel G-quartet structures, respectively. Thermodynamic parameters of the antiparallel and parallel G-quartet structures in a buffer containing 50 mM MES (pH 6.1), 100 mM NaCl, and 1 mM cation chloride were obtained by curve fitting procedure and Tm-1 versus ln (Ct/s) plot. These results indicate that effect of divalent cations on the antiparallel G-quartet structure is different from that on the parallel G-quartet. (author abst.)
