Abstract; We carried out the circular dichroism measurements for the macromolecular complex made from poly(C) and schizophyllan and analyzed the data in terms of the composition dependence of the solvent, stoichiometry, and thermodynamical properties. With increasing temperature, the complex dissociated in the cooperative manner, as being similar with the melting behavior of double helix DNA. This complimentary polynucleotide mimic nature is surprisingly unusual with noticing that there is no base or specific interaction site in the SPG unit. Furthermore, the schizophyllan-poly(C) complex showed inhibition or drastic reduction in the hydrolysis of poly(C) by RNases. (author abst.)
