Abstract;Relaxation behavior below glass transition temperature(Tg) related to their stability of glassy pharmaceuticals was followed by means of thermal analysis. Glassy pharmaceuticals were prepared by cooling the melts. DSC was employed to measure the enthalpy relaxation of the samples after storage at temperature below Tg. The dimensional changes at temperature below Tg were measured using TMA. The obtained enthalpy and dimensional changes were used to calculate relaxation time. The relaxation time was calculated by using the KWW equation. The order of the physical stability was an indomethacin>nifedipine>phenobarbital, irrespetive of their similar Tg(321K). The rapid enthalpy relaxation was observed in the glassy phenobarbital, and the order of the relaxation rate was as phenobarbital>nifedipine>indomethacin. The similar relaxation behavior were also demonstrated by TMA. From the results of the physical stability studies and thermal analysis, it was suggested that the relaxation behavior of glassy pharmaceuticals was related to the physical stability of them.
