| Abstract; We treated 6 eyes of primary angle-closure glaucoma by nonpenetrating trabeculectomy with peripheral iridectomy. Goniosynechialysis was performed in some eyes. All the eyes had responded poorly to prior laser iridotomy or topical medications. The postoperative follow-up averaged 16 months. The intraocular pressure averaged 29.7mmHg before surgery and 9.5mmHg at the final examination. One eye developed temporary shallow anterior chamber and choroidal detachment due to overfiltration. The findings show that nonpenetrating trabeculectomy with peripheral iridectomy is a safe and effective surgical procedure for primary angle-closure glaucoma. (author abst.) |
