Abstract;Preparation of artificial metalloenzymes is one of the most interesting subject of bloinorganic chemistry. We have prepared artificial enzymes by inserting the MnIII(salophen) to apo-myoglobin mutants. Our designed metalloenzymes, especially MnIII(salophen)/H64D/A71G, catalyze asymmetric oxidation of thioanisole, though apo- and holo-Mbs show little enantio selectivity. The results suggest that designed protein/metal complexes are potent catalysts for enantioselective oxidation. (author abst.)
