| Abstract; We have already introduced an idea of slipped cofacial dimer formation of imidazolyl (Im)Zn porphyrin by complementary coordination of Im.RAR.Zn. This dimer is regarded not only as a special pair, but also as an antenna unit from the view point of recent crystallography. Here we synthesized an antenna(special pair)-pheophytin triad model, where each three ImZn porphyrin dimers, having a carboxyl group, were attached to an energy accepting free base(Fb) porphyrin, and succeeded in incorporating this triad model in bilayer lipid membrane. The emission and excitation spectra of this triad model in the vesicle suggested that the imidazolyl-to-Zn coordination structure was maintained stably just in a similar way as special pair or antenna complexes. Energy transfer occurred from the Zn porphyin part to the Fb part with 80% transfer efficiency in a similar efficiency in a CHCl3 solution. (author abst.) |
