Abstract; We developed a specific and sensitive method to determine tissue vitamin C concentration in 1992. Based on the method, we measured tissue concentrations of vitamin C, lipid hydroperoxides, and vitamin E as an index of oxidative stress in rats of diabetes, and intoxication with chemicals. Results show that vitamin C is the most sensitive indicator of oxidative stress in vivo. (author abst.)
