| Abstract;Parnassia aff. cacuminum f. yushuensis, P. viridifolia, P. brevistyla, and P. delavayi in section Nectarotrilobos were chromosomally studied: They had commonly the simple chromocenter type of resting chromosomes and the proximal type of mitotic prophase chromosomes. The chromosome number of 2n=18 in P. aff. cacuminum f. yushuensis, and that of 2n=14 in P. brevistyla were reported here for the first time. The chromosome number of 2n=14 in P. delavayi supported the previous count. However, the chromosome number of 2n=36 in P. viridifolia was different from that of the previous count of 2n=18. The chromosomes of P. aff. cacuminum f. yushuensis (2.3-1.5 .MU.m long) and P. viridifolia (2.1-1.4 .MU.m long) were small sized, while those of P. brevistyla (3.6-2.7 .MU.m long) and P. delavayi (4.5-3.2 .MU.m long) were large sized. Parnassia aff. cacuminum f. yushuensis had median-centromeric chromosomes of the chromosome complement in centromeric position at mitotic metaphase, while the other three species had median- and submedian-centromeric chromosomes.
