| Abstract;Out of 601 children with mild gastroenteritis admitted to Chiba Municipal Kaihin Hospital, 19 patients was diagnosed as convulsions with mild gastroenteritis. Stool examinations of the rotavirus antigen were positive in ten patients. Twelve of 19 patients had repetitive convulsions, and all episodes occurred within 20 hours from first convulsion. No patient showed a recurrence of afebrile seizure or signs of mental deterioration during the follow-up period. Diazepam was not effective to control repetitive convulsions. Although the examination of nine examples is a small number, phenobarbital was effective for relapse prevention if a sufficient dose was given, concluded by the fact that convulsions disppeared from the conventional report for a short time.
