Abstract; In this paper, we propose an algorithm for selecting sentences, which are desired by a decision maker, from reference documents in a database. Such a sentence is defined as one having not only inputted words (keywords) but also words with relation to them. In this algorithm, the score of each word is calculated on the basis of the similarity between words and sentences. The average of the score of words in a sentence represents the desire for the sentence. The experimental results show that about 30 percent of the sentences selected without keywords are desirable for a decision maker. (author abst.)
