| Abstract;Chronic cough is the most common sympton in Sjoegren's syndrome (SjS). Recent studies have shown that bronchial hypersensitivity associated with lymphocytic infiltration around bronchial glands might underly chronic cough in SjS. Histological classification of interstitial pneumonia/fibrosis in SjS is not yet established, whereas many studies for cells in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid have appeared in the literature. Lymphocytic interstitial pneumonia (LIP) has been described as the most prominent among several types of pulmonary involvement in SjS. However, the incidence of LIP would rather be uncommon. There is wide spectrum of other manifestations, including pulmonary hypertension, pseudolymphoma, lymphoma, amyloidosis, and pleurisy. (author abst.) |
