| Abstract;This plan was prepared as a guideline for forest improvement plans by municipal governments. It showed the management objectives for forest resources in privately owned land in the forest plan ward of Abashiri east region of Hokkaido in accordance with the national forest plan based on the forest law. A description was given on such basic items of forest improvement as the basic concept of forest improvement promotion, the outline of forests and forestry in the region, policies for executing the plan, forest zones covered by the plan, and the locations and areas of forests by forest function. An explanation was provided on the following plan items: collection of cut trees, artificial afforestation, area of natural regeneration, methods for thinning and tending, improvement of designated commercial forests such as multilayered forests, construction of forest roads, joint operation of commercial forests, rationalization by high perforamance silvicultural machinery, conservation of forest land, and improvement of protection forests and forests for public health function. |
