| Abstract; We evaluated the effect of mosapride citrate(Gasmotin) which is a selective 5-HT4 receptor agonist on esophageal motility. Esophageal manometry was performed before and after administration of 10mg dose of mosapride citrate in seven healthy volunteers and 13 patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD). The values of lower esophageal sphincter(LES) pressure, pressure wave amplitude and propagation velocity of pressure wave after administration of mosapride citrate were significantly higher than basal values in both healthy volunteers and GERD patients. These results indicate that mosapride citrate enhances the esophageal motility and therefore has the potential efficacy of treatment of GERD. (author abst.) |
