Abstract; We examined the effect of famotidine in aspirin-induced gastric mucosal injury in rats. Acidified aspirin-induced gastric damage, the increase in myeloperoxidase activity and the levels of tumor necrosis factor alpha were significantry inhibited by the administration of famotidine. These results suggest that famotidine protects against neutrophil-mediated inflammatory reaction in aspirin-induced gastric mucosal injury in rats. (author abst.)
