Abstract;Topical corticosteroid spray which scarcely has systemic side effects should be used as a first choice-steroid therapy in the treatment for allergic rhinitis-patients with moderate or severe nasal symptoms. Oral administration of corticosteroid is available in severe cases which are resistant to the treatment with topical corticosteroid spray. Systemic injection of corticosteroid should strictly be limited in the treatment for allergic rhinitis. Depot cortico steroid injection is a high-dose steroid therapy and sometimes causes side effects. This therapy does not meet the guidelines for allergic rhinitis in Japan. For the treatment of systemic administration of corticosteroid, doctors should be pay careful attention to indications. (author abst.)
