| Abstract; To simulate behavior of water droplet under high humid condition, a droplet introduced onto the polymer surface was investigated at the experiment level; this including its characteristics under an applied electric field. A high-speed camera was used to observe the droplet movement on the polymer surface before and after the discharge. The surface potential distribution on and around the droplet was also investigated using an electrostatic voltmeter. Before discharge, the potential on the droplet surface became negative; after the discharge, fine droplets were ejected from the droplet surface leaving the surface with a net positive charge. The droplet was elongated in the direction of the electrodes with the increase of applied voltage finally resulting in a flashover. (author abst.) |
