Abstract;A model of the target is developed for the SPIRAL-II project at GANIL to produce neutron rich radioactive ion beam. Thermal simulations have been performed to optimise the deuteron beam energy and intensity as a function of target geometry. Comparisons have been made between different methods for the production of neutron rich RIB using deuteron beam and thick target. (author abst.)
