Abstract; We report a case of solid and cystic tumor of the pancreas in a 15 year-old boy, who underwent complete tumor extirpation without pancreatectomy at seven years of life. He had received a second operation, pancreatoduodenectomy with partial pancreatectomy, 30% of total, and then had been treated with postoperative chemotherapy of two years, consisting of cyclophosphomide, doxorubicine, cisplatinum and vinristine, becase of the presence of tumor invasion to postperitoneum. One year after discontinuation of chemotherapy, pancreatic insufficiency and type I diabetes mellitus developed. The present case suggests that we should consider pancreatic insufficiency and insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus caused by pancreatectomy and chemotherapy-induced pancreatitis in patients with a solid and cystic tumor of the pancreas.
