Abstract;Hydrogermyllithiums are one of synthetically useful germyllithiums because the hydrido group can be replaced by other groups. We report herein the synthesis, structure and reactions of a novel disilyl-substituted hydrogermyllithium, bis(t-butyldimethylsilyl)hydrogermyllithum (1). Germyllithium 1 was prepared by the proton abstraction from the corresponding disilyldihydrogermane (2) with t-butyllithium. Germyllithum 1 was trapped by methyl iodide to provide the corresponding methylated product in good yield. In the solid state, 1 exists as a dimer, and where each lithium atom was coordinated by a tetrahydrofuran molecule. Hydrogermyllithium 1 was applied to the synthesis of a novel tetrasilylgermasilene (3). The reactivity of 3 will be discussed. (author abst.)
