Abstract;The first synthesis and reactions of stannole dianion 3 are reported. Reaction of the novel bi(1,1-stannole) 1 with lithium gave the first stannole monoanion 2. Further reduction of the stannole monoanion 2 gave the first stannole dianion 3. The 119Sn chemical shift of the stannole dianion 3 was downfield-shifted compared to that of the bi(1,1-stannole)1, suggesting the delocalization of the negative charge into the stannole ring.
