Abstract;1. A Sucker-free chrysanthemum variety "Iwa no Hakusen" spontaneously forms large and white flowers in the middle of June. Using this variety, attempts were made to construct a culture technique system for flowering from June to August under heating or illuminating. 2. By pinching culture, the culture time could be shortened by directly planting scions that had been preliminarily pinched. This method is efficacious in the June-flowering type with the use of winter buds. 3. In non-pinching culture for flowering in July to August, "Iwa no Hakusen" frequently formed crown buds. The formation of crown buds could be prevented by stopping illumination when 22 or 23 leaves were developed so that normal flowers were formed. 4. In our prefecture, "Iwa no Hakusen" expresses no sucker-free characteristic until the beginning of July. Thus, punching and disbudding never contribute to laborsaving. Concerning this point, it was found out that the sucker-free characteristic could be effectively expressed by controlling the temperature at a high level by upper side-ventilation during the growth period. Since the temperature was naturally elevated by the upper side-ventilation all day and sufficient ventilation was carried out after budding, the flower qualities were never worsened in this culture method. 5. The expression of the sucker-free characteristic is induced and determined by high temperature in daytime during the growth period. However, we could not clarify the relationship between the quantitative factors, i.e., the high temperature level and high temperature period (hours, days) and the expression of the sucker-free characteristic. Note: (1) Sucker-free characteristic: A characteristic of forming no sucker. (2) Upper side-ventilation: A method of ventilation through openings provided at the upper side of a vinyl house.
