Abstract; After the long time of oral instruction of Buddhism, a number of written forms have been created. Since most of them have never been analyzed, we are trying to convert them to computerized form by using automatic recognition of Devanagari characters. Already some specific results have been obtained like the difference in Kan-non and Kanzeon-bosatsu based on the hybridization of Hinduism. Although most of Japanese people believe that Chinese priests delivered us the concept of Buddhism, almost 1000 years ago Saint Nichiji tried to propagate from Japan to China. We have applied carbon-14 dating to analyze his silk wrapping cloth left in China to certify this tradition. (author abst.)
