Abstract;DNA extracted from Ancient sites enables us to draw a picture of ancient agriculture. In middle Jomon(4000BP), people performed domestication of chestnut, although the era has been believed as a period of hunter and gatherer. People at that time accepted cultivation at that time. Rice plant has been introduced in Jomon era, and has been occupied the Japan islands until early Edo period(ca. 400BP). Paddy-rice(temperate japonica) and its cultivation expanded since then.
