Abstract;HDL particle loaded with cholesteryl ester in peripheral tissues is to deliver the cholesterol to the liver. Cholesteryl ester transfer protein(CETP) facilitates to transfer the cholesteryl ester in HDL to apo B containing lipoproteins, VLDL and LDL. The lipoproteins loaded with cholesteryl ester from HDL are catabolized in the liver taken up via LDL receptor. Scavenger receptor class B type I(SR-BI) is a docking receptor mediating the selective uptake of the cholesteryl ester from HDL. The cholesteryl ester in HDL particle is taken up directly by the liver via SR-BI, HDL particle unloaded cholesteryl ester or apo A-I is catabolized in the kidney internalized via cubilin. Cubilin is an endocytosis receptor catabolizing HDL particle. (author abst.)
