Abstract; In recent years, the development of medical preparations(kit preparations) has contributed to an improvement in the quality of medical care in the clinical setting. Pre-filled syringe(PFS) is a one of kit preparations and some reports showed the advantages regarding sterility, discrimination and convenience. Since G-CSF is administered to patients whose condition is severely compromised, the use of the PFS has significant merit because sterility is maintained until just prior to the attachment of the needle. The amount of work involved in the preparation of injection solutions by medical staff is also lessened. In addition, since the drug name and dose can be clearly marked on the syringe, PFS will be instrumental in the prevention of errors in administration due to easiness to discrimination of the drug. In the present study, regarding both PFS and ampoule formulations of Filgrastim(G-CSF), the convenience of the two formulations was compared. The convenience of the Filgrastim PFS was highly evaluated by 75% or more of trial participants in respect to all of the following criteria: decreased risk of bacterial infection and contamination by foreign substances, simplicity of preparation, ease of discrimination of drug name and dose, decreased risk of being pricked by the needle, etc., and decreased amount of waste. On the other hand, while the problem of storing drug preparations under refrigeration was identified, all 30 participants replied that they would use PFS in preference to ampoule formulations. Therefore, it was concluded that the PFS formulation of G-CSF is highly useful and that its use will become more widespread in the future. (author abst.)
