| Abstract;Effect of atorvastatin(10mg daily) was-28.9% in total cholesterol(TC) and -43.2% in low-density lipoprotein(LDL-C) in the elderly, but was lower 5.1% and 3.9% respectively than in non eldery patients. In those, the subjects attaining both below 200mg/dL level in TC and 120mg/dL level LDL-C was 68.9% in the elderly and 67.7% in non eldery patients. During 6 month after reduced dose of atorvastatin(5mg daily) in these subjects, there was few changes in the effect lowering in TC and LDL-C. In general, the dosage is favorable the most effective in minimal dose in so far as possible. So once treat by 10mg dose, dose reduction into 5mg may be favorable according to the patient's condition on lipid level. Reduction of dose for maintenance may be useful new methods for eldery hyper lipidemic patient's in view of side effects. (author abst.) |
