| Abstract;Clinical picture including age, diagnosis, symptoms and laboratory findings of 120 cases of adenovirus type 3 infection were compared with that of 115 cases of adenovirus type 7 infection. When compared with adenovirus type 3 infection, there were many cases of children of older age in the adenovirus type 7 infection cases. Cases of upper respiratory infection constituted the majority of both type 3 and type 7 infection, but the frequency of development of lower respiratory infection such as bronchitis and pneumonia was higher in type 3 infection and, on the contrary, severe pneumonia was observed in only type 7 infection. The period of continuance of fever was significantly longer in type 7 infection with many cases showing continuance of fever for more than one week, ln adenovirus type 3 infection, inflammatory reactions such as peripheral leukocytosis and elevation of CRP were more predominant in type 3 infection. In adenovirus type 7 infection, there were many cases of elevation of serum transaminase and LDH. Severe cases such as disseminated intravascular coaglation syndrome and death cases were obserbed only in type 7 infection. (author abst.) |
