| Abstract; The chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) has been considered to be the multiple disease state of pulmonary emphysema and chronic bronchitis since before, and the diagnosis of chronic bronchitis, pulmonary emphysema, and COPD was often intermingled and a confusion was caused. In the international standard on the newest guideline of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (GOLD) proposed by NHLBI/WKO in 2001, COPD was used as a unified diagnosis name, and both would not be distinguished. In GOLD, as a long term management plan of COPD, it is recommended to advace the diagnosis dividing into 1) Evaluatioin and monitoring of the disease, 2) Reduction of the risk factors, 3) Management in the stabilized stage, and 4) Management of acute exacerbation. And, the examination items according to the Japan pneumology association COPD guideline were introduced. |
