Abstract;Various carbonaceous materials have been studied for use in lithium ion batteries. Microstructures of carbonaceous materials have been known to effect on their electrochemical properties. Binder free electrodes are desirable for precise studies on electrochemical properties of carbonaceous materials. In this work, carbonaceous thin films were prepared from 1,3-butadiene, nitrogen trifluoride (NF3) and argon by plasma-assisted chemical vapor deposition and their electrochemical properties were investigated. In particular, effect of surface structure of carbonaceous materials on their electrochemical properties was focused. Resultant carbonaceous thin films were studied by Raman spectroscopy, XPS and etc. Electrochemical properties of the films were studied by cyclic voltammetry using a three-electrode cell (working electrode: carbonaceous thin films, counter and reference electrodes: Li metal) in 1mol dm-3 LiClO4/PC electrolyte. Raman spectra of the resultant carbonaceous thin films showed the existence of graphitized structure in the films together with non-graphitized one. The crystallinity of the carbonaceous films was found to become higher with increasing RF input power. (author abst.)
