Abstract;A reaction space has been studied in a casted film of an ion-pair composed of fluorinated ammonium surfactant and azobenzenecarboxylate. In comparing with the hydrogen homologs, the fluorinated ion-pair film provides a reaction space for cis-trans isomerization of the azo chromophore, suggesting that the fluorinated ion-pair forms a packing structure looser than the hydrogen homolog. Polarized spectroscopy reveals that the fluorinated ion-pair forms a monolayer assembly, but the hydrogen homolog affords a bilayer structure of the molecular assembly. (author abst.)
