Abstract;Propulsion force on the water of variable configuration rimless wheel has been revealed. Six vanes are deployed and retreated periodically. This cyclic motion is derived by an eccentrically located control hub and spokes which control vane angles periodically. Stiffness and weight of this structure is greatly improved compared with the original design. Direction and size of the propulsion force depends on the eccentric vector of control hub. Maximum propulsion force is 3.39N at 442rpm(rim speed is 10 km/h.). Both forward and backward propulsion force can be obtained if this rimless wheel is under the water surface completely.
