| Abstract;Patients with disorders of higher brain function, including stroke survivors, are increasing in aging societies. Conventional training and retraining programs for them are uneventful and it is difficult to keep up motivation, to recover and improve the disordered function. To solve this problem, we have applied a haptic device to the rehabilitation tool and try to integrate the motion and sensory therapy without the patients loosing their interests. This rehabilitation tool system consists of a haptic device, a display, a computer and software for training. 5 basic training programs and 2 applied training programs are prepared. When user move the grip, the haptic device provides a virtual force and it can either assist the movement of their arm or work against it. We tried to check the functionality of this system by physical therapists and occupational therapists. (author abst.) |
