Abstract; The concept of distributed modular robot system and implementation of communication of the modules are described. Robots with mono-function (such as sensing or moving function) and the ability of wire-less communication are defined as mono-functional modular robots. By using them in combination, a robots system can be constructed in different environment depending on tasks. Communication of modules should be designed to be "open". Previous works of communication among robots depend on platforms like OS or languages. According to this, the general-purpose protocol SOAP is introduced and applied to our robot system. The design and implementation are explained. (author abst.)
