Abstract;The purpose of this research is development of the object following system of an autonomous mobile robot with omni directional vision sensor. We developed an autonomous mobile robot that was equipped with an omni directional sensor as a sensory system and a two-independent-wheel-drive-system as a locomotion system and PC MICRO-ATX board as a controller system. Based on the image obtained from omni directional vision sensor, the mono-colored spherical object like a handball is extracted. The distance and the angle to an object which were obtained from image are calculated. The object following system by that an autonomous mobile robot was developed. We achieved experiments of object following indoor environment and confirmed the validity of this system. (author abst.)
