Abstract;Ultrasound in liquid or gel at high frequency can be focused within a smaller spot than 1 mm in diameter, and it can effect our somatic sensation both by its radiation pressure and by direct stimulation to the nerve structures. The radiation pressure onto a skin surface is controllable with microsecond time constant. Meanwhile the focal point of ultrasound for direct nerve stimulation is three-dimensionally controllable in skin tissue. We examine the feasibility of these two kinds of stimulation for tactile feeling display. (author abst.)
