Abstract;Though epithelial cells cover the surface of organs and tissues, and control materfial exchanges with external worlds by specific barrier functions, in these cells polarization of their cell surfaces and vesicle transport pathways is observable. Low molecular weight G proteins such as Rab, Rho, Rac, and Cdc42 intervene in maintenance and control of vesicle transports with polarity in epithelial cells. This article introduces recent knowledges by focusing on the role of Rab family acting in vesicle transports of polarity cells, and by including knowledges on Rab5, of which activation mechanism and binding protein are being analyzed in detail among Rab family.
