Abstract; The case(a male infant of 4 yesrs old) had double popliteal pains and coccyalgia since July, 2000. Having tumor on lumber cauda equina recognized by MRI at a neighboring hospital, he was taken to our hospital on August 17th. The tumor was extirpated on August 21st. He was diagnosed as malignant schwannoma on the basis of histological and immunohistochemical findings. From September 20th, 6 courses of chemotherapy(VCR+CPM+THP-ADR/1 course) were done. Recurrence being not obviously recognized, he left hospital on February 27th, 2001. However, double popliteal pains and coccyalgia appeared on March 3rd. The tumor extirpation was tried in vain on March 22nd, and matastasis was recognized. Chemotherapy being considered ineffective, radiotherapy was started. There was marked reduction in the tumor by irradiation to the whole of spinal cord and brain. Afterwards, he was not able to keep remiting to result in death on June 28th, 2002.
