Abstract;A mouse, Mus musculus, as a model animal representing all mammal including human being occupy an indisputable position, and is used for research in all over the world. History of the research on mice is long, and research data accumulated by scientists on genetic markers, ESTs, and whole genome sequences are vast. This paper discusses genetical engineering method used for gene analysis of mice, transgenic and knockout mice which have been playing main roles, and two chalenging methods of comprehensive gene function analyses required from now in post-genomic era, i.e., ENU mutation, and transposon mutation methods.
