Abstract;A 59-year-old man complaining of epigastric pain was found to have a 5 cm tumor of type 2 at the posterior wall of the cardiac part. With a diagnosis of poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma, a total gastrectomy and a resection of the pancreatic tail associated splenectomy were performed on August 9, 1994. One year later, a solitary metastatic liver tumor was detected by ultrasonography, CT and angiography. A partial hepatectomy was performed on August 24, 1995. Histopathological picture and of the resected material was the same as that of the primary lesion of the stomach. On in situ hybrization with EBV-encoded small RNAs was positive. Thereafter, multiple metastatic liver tumors were detected in 1996. These lesions were successfully treated with TAE. In February 1998, CT showed bone metastasis, which was successfully treated with radiation. These metastatic lesions were favorably controlled until he died of cerebral infarction on April 1, 2000.
